The home pictured above was custom designed by our team for a family living in the Windermere neighbourhood in Edmonton, Alberta. Their home showcases the unique features and incredible detail that are a result of building a custom home.
At the recommendation of our design team, the family chose to add varying ceiling heights to the main areas of the home to subtly divide up the space without adding walls or other barriers and ensuring it maintains an open feeling. To complement this feature, they combined raised ceilings with interior potlights to make the hallway appear taller and wider.
A white oak hardwood was selected for the entire main floor. This eliminates flooring transition lines and serves to create a seamless transition from room to room. This lighter shade of flooring minimizes the appearance of dirt that might get tracked inside, and the hardwood will stand up to years of wear and tear from guests, pets, and kids. The elegant herringbone inlay addition to the flooring is arguably the most unique aspect of this home.
Bringing the entire entryway together, the foyer of this home opens up towards the staircase and hallway. The family chose a railing with thinner, sturdy spindles to open up the area, adding depth and sophistication while exemplifying the superior architecture of their custom home.
